The recently opened museum showcases a collection of memorabilia, historical items, merchandise and two art exhibits. Participants can look forward to either a morning or afternoon bus to and from the Homestead for some local history, entertainment, guided tours and refreshments. You will hear of the Homestead's history, enjoy beautiful refreshments and see the lovingly restored gardens and surrounds.

A presentation will be given on the history of the Benalla Airfield and its contribution to the war effort during World War 2, the life of service members on the Station, and a presentation of the historical exhibits present in the Museum. Members will be available to facilitate and answer questions, and close up activities around the Museum's air assets will be available.

This presentation by members of the Benalla Aboriginal History Group will explore the historical story of Aboriginal life, colonisation and frontier conflict in Benalla.

Benalla Cemetery contains them all - The Good who sought to improve the life of others and the community; the Bad who used their power and influence for their own immoral purposes; and it contains the truly Ugly.

Benalla cemetery holds the victims of horrific murders and tragic accidents. In its long history, the cemetery has seen it all – politicians, a famous poet, Australia’s first celebrity chef, and a famous sportsman as good as any who ever played. Last year during Heritage Week, we did part 1.

A celebration of our natural environment, gardening and sustainability.

Our tours provide insights into D Division's history (Remand prison) and introduces individuals who have spent time in the prison. The tour is conducted by ex-prison officers and former Pentridge inmates.

A tour of these abandoned places will take you to each site where you can explore what remains and hear stories about what these places looked like, the people who lived here and what they did. Friends of the Athenaeum has local guides who will provide information at each place and answer questions.
