Researching family history at your library

Goulburn Valley Libraries offer many resources for those beginning their family history research. Access documents that can assist you in finding important dates and names or personal stories of people long gone. Learn techniques to both find the information and interpret it.

This workshop offers an introduction to both physical and digital opportunities for research ranging from books and magazines to digital archiving platforms and historic newspaper collections. The workshop is offered free and so is access to the resources discussed during the session.

This workshop will introduce you to
• AncestryLibrary (a free library edition of Ancestry)
• Finding resources using the library catalogue
• Records available at Goulburn Valley Libraries
• Public Records Office Victoria
• Australian War Memorial
• National Archives Australia
• Suggestions for other resources you may wish to explore.
