Discover Bendigo’s connections to WW1
Discover the connections between Bendigo and the battlefields of WW1 on a tour of Bendigo's heritage listed Honour Roll.
Erected in 1921 to honor the indomitable spirit of the thousands of local men and women who valiantly enlisted during the Great War, the Soldiers Memorial Institute Building is a Bendigo icon that serves as an enduring tribute to the sacrifice and courage of our local heroes.
The building is adorned with a poignant series of heritage listed brass Honour Rolls, bearing the names of 2,972 locals, including 499 who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Visit us at 12pm any Saturday during the Heritage Festival and learn the stories behind some of the names with a knowledgeable guide from the Bendigo Military Museum, who will walk you through the history of the grand building, before introducing you to some of Bendigo’s most heroic individuals.
