A Walk in the Flagstaff Gardens

Join expert tour guides from the Royal Historical Society of Victoria on a guided walk through beautiful Flagstaff Gardens - the historical hears of the City.
Visitors will climb Flagstaff Hill to consider its early role as a burial ground, flagstaff signalling station and weather station.

The Royal Historical Society of Victoria’s (RHSV) home in A’Beckett St has a frontage facing Flagstaff Gardens. The walking tour starts and ends in the RHSV premises. After the walking tour is finished, participants are invited back to the RHSV for morning tea and to enjoy the exhibition, Melbourne’s Storied Laneways, which looks at the history of a collection of Melbourne’s lanes and their buildings.

This is an absolute ‘must do’ walk for understanding the history and character of Melbourne. Participants consider Melbourne’s topography and the pre-European history.
