Heritage Futures is a travelling outdoor installation designed and developed in partnership with Petrichor Collaborative for the National Trust’s 70th Anniversary.

Heritage Futures is a travelling outdoor installation designed and developed in partnership with Petrichor Collaborative for the National Trust’s 70th Anniversary. Interweaving ecological elements, personal stories, and First Nations connection to Country, the program invites visitors to explore National Trust gardens and landscapes in new ways—through storytelling, creativity, and reflection on the future of heritage.

Inspired by Petrichor Collaborative’s original event, Memories of the Billabong (RiverFest 2025), the program will use gentle provocations to explore how places hold memory, how communities connect to landscape, and how we imagine the next 70 years of custodianship future of National Trust places.

Visitors can experience the program in three simple parts:

  1. A self-guided audio walk, accessed via QR on site
  2. A collaborative creative installation – only on select days
  3. A creative response prize competition. Access this competition via a QR code at entry to the event and go into the running to win a 3 year membership.
