Join us for an exclusive members-only exploration of the stories of women and children at the Old Melbourne Gaol.
What Awaits You
Across a dedicated suite of cells on the second floor, this experience brings together decades of research into the lives of women and children who were imprisoned within the Gaol. Beginning near the gallows, the narrative traces themes of execution and female imprisonment, before concluding with the social welfare work of Dr John Singleton and the Salvation Army.
Members will also have the opportunity to reflect on the Gaol’s exterior spaces, including the original gate and courtyard, and the remaining traces of the former Female Ward.
This exclusive event offers a deeper insight into an often overlooked chapter of the Gaol’s history.
Important Information
Please note, the Women and Children of the Gaol exhibit is on the upper levels of the Gaol and only accessible by stairs.
