Go back in time and discover what it would have been like to be a child living at Como House. Enjoy old-fashioned games, tea parties on the lawn and scavenger hunts through the sprawling grounds.  The little guests will also enjoy a specially designed house tour with ballroom dancing

Programs can be booked individually or for the full day. A single session is $25 per child, or $18 for NTAV Members. Or $40 for both sessions, $30 for NTAV Members. Cost includes one carer per family group.

Discover Past Landscapes

Mornings: 10am to 12.30pm

People have been in Australia for at least 65,000 years. We know quite a lot about communities in the Deep Past – their technologies, food, resources and culture – and the landscapes in which they lived. But how do we know these things? This unique experience allows children to become immersed in archaeological thinking and provides opportunities for hands on exploration. During the session, children work together with their Dig Team to uncover and analyse artefacts in our simulated archaeological site and learn how to survey and read the landscape.

Discover Past Lives

Afternoon: 1pm to 3pm

Como House is a beautiful mansion and garden with a remarkable family history. The program explores the story of the wealthy pastoralist Armytage family who lived at Como from the nineteenth and into the twentieth centuries. Our costumed facilitators will introduce children to the complex social world of this time, exploring the different lives of the Armytage family and those who worked for them.
