Step back in time and celebrate a Victorian-era Christmas with family for a joyful and activity-packed day out.

Celebrate Christmas with the whole family at the Como House where tradition comes alive.

Gather the family and step into the wonderland of a nineteenth-century Christmas. Rediscover the charm of yesteryears as you immerse yourself in Victorian-era decorations, delight in classic toys and timeless gifts, and marvel at an exhibition of rare Australian Christmas cards – all beautifully adorning the majestic rooms of Como House.

Activities on the day include:

  • Help decorate the tree in Como House, and pose for a family photo with the iconic Como House Christmas Tree,
  • Create a sustainable Christmas Wreath and make authentic Victorian-era Christmas decorations.
  • Enjoy specially-themed heritage tours and hear about Christmas traditions from the past.
  • Wander the glorious gardens and enjoy a picnic on the lawns, or relish in tasty treats from the Stables of Como.

Como House offers a glimpse into the life and times of former owners, the Armytage family, who lived there for nearly a century. The Armytages became famous amongst Melbourne high society and equally famous for their many elegant dances, dinners and receptions. The house is surrounded by stunning gardens and lawns, including an interpretation of a classic perennial border by renowned designer and Como Ambassador Paul Bangay.
