Lesley Barnes wins Heritage Council Award

It is with great pleasure that I pass on the news that Lesley Barnes, one of our longest standing volunteers and the driving force behind Gulf Station and its volunteers in the Yarra Valley, was last night presented with the Heritage Council of Victoria’s annual award for volunteers (the Ray Tonkin Award) by Mary Urquhart Chairman. This is the Council’s highest honour and fitting recognition.

On behalf of everyone here at the Trust I would like to pass on our congratulations to Lesley for a lifetime’s commitment to our cultural heritage.

Lesley was suitably modest in receiving the award last night. She told me that she has thoroughly enjoyed her involvement in all sorts of activity across the Trust over the years with some wonderful people.

Martin Purslow, CEO.
