Blast into the past with the Geelong Military Re-enactment Group and the National Trust (Victoria) as they present a thrilling live history event ‘The Age of Gunpowder’ from Saturday 4 to Sunday 5 May.
The two day exhibition of military living history features encampments and re-enactments from the Napoleonic Wars, WWI and WWII. See soldiers re-enacting these historic events with equipment, firearms, rations and vehicles of WWI and WWII.
Since its first recorded use in the battles between the Chinese and the Mongols, gunpowder has played a pivotal role in the history of mankind. Visitors will be able to experience the explosive power first-hand as they are faced with realistic Australian WWI and WWII re-enactments by British, US and German troops.
The Age of Gunpowder runs from 10.00am – 4.00pm.
Light refreshments will be provided by local organisations on the day.
Barwon Park is located at 105 Inverleigh Road, Winchelsea.
$15 for adults and children under 16 are free. Proceeds from the event support Legacy, the National Trust and local Winchelsea Community Groups.
‘The Age of Gunpowder’ is presented by the Geelong Military Re-enactment Group, in conjunction with the National Trust and sponsored by Tourism Victoria, the Surf Coast Shire, the Bendigo Bank and local businesses.
