Take a behind the scenes tour of Waller House, an iconic Melbourne property.

This exclusive tour is hosted by one of the National Trust’s Conservation Architects and provides visitors a unique opportunity to see conservation in action, as the National Trust develops a plan for preserving and enhancing Waller House into the future.

Designed for education groups, industry professionals or special interest groups, the tour is an opportunity to learn about the conservation processes and decisions required to open a house museum for this unique property, once the home and studio of artists Christian and Napier Waller. Visitors will also learn about the lives of the occupants, their circle of friends and associates, their art processes, and the details of the place that provide insights into an artist’s life and the art and design history of Melbourne.

Once a month we run two hosted tours on a Thursday. These exclusive experiences are limited to a capacity of 8 minimum and 12 maximum. Pre-bookings are essential via the form below. 

Please note Waller House is closed to the general public while conservation work is undertaken.

Please note that this tour includes stairs and steep slopes. There is unfortunately no current provision for people with mobility issues or limited mobility.
Traveling to Waller House

Limited street parking is available for patrons visiting Waller House for a tour and there is strictly no parking on Crown Road but there is parking in the adjacent Riverside Road.

Attendees are encouraged to travel to Waller House by public transport, drop and go or car-pooling.  Attendees can also be dropped off at the house and then park in Riverside Road.

Darebin Station (Hurstbridge Line) is the nearest train station, approx. 10 mins walk to Waller House.

Groups tour are limited to a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12. people Pre-bookings are essential, please select your preferred date below.

Group bookings will be confirmed upon receipt of a confirmation email from the NTAV Bookings Team containing your tax invoice.

  • Your Booking is not confirmed until you receive a confirmation email from our office with tax invoice.
    All bookings must be pre-paid to our head office 7 days prior to your visit.

    There will be no charges if you cancel your booking, in writing, more than one week before your scheduled visit date.

    Any changes to your booking (including, but not limited to: cancellations, rescheduling, changes to participant numbers, etc.) must be communicated, in writing, to the National Trust bookings office (bookings@nattrust.com.au) more than one week before your visit.

    If cancelling less than one week prior to the booking date, 50% of the total booking fee will apply. Less than three days notice of cancellation will incur 100% of the total booking fee as a cancellation fee.

    Any individual cancellations from within a group booking requested with less than 7 days notice prior to the booking date will not be refunded.

    If rescheduling less than one week prior to the booking date, between a $100-$400 rescheduling charge may apply. Less than three days notice of reschedule will incur 100% of the total booking fee payable.

    If you wish to cancel or move a booking due to poor weather you must notify our office more than 3 business days before your visit.

    To make a new booking on a new date we will charge you a new fee. This will be additional to the payment received for your original booking.

    If you fail to arrive for your booking on the day, you will still be charged the full fee.
