Immerse yourself in the gothic surrounds of Labassa Mansion in Caulfield North, enjoying an intimate salon recital by 2024 Melba Opera Trust artists Eden Shifroni (soprano), Caitlin Forrest (mezzo-soprano), Jack Bolton (bass) and Stacey Yang (accompanist).

Join us as the Salon Series continues to explore the secrets of historic landmarks and present the impact of exquisite opera, up close. Light refreshments with the artists follow each performance.

Due to limited capacity, there will be a repeat performance of the musical program at 1pm and 3pm.

Your ticket includes light afternoon tea (sandwiches*, tea and coffee) with the opportunity to meet the artists and ask all your opera questions over tea.

* Some gluten-free options will be available. However, please contact bookings@nattrust.com.au with any specific dietary requirements.

This concert is presented by the Melba Opera Trust and the National Trust of Australia (Victoria).

  • Please arrive 15 – 30 minutes prior to your booking (performance) start time.
  • Stilettos are not permitted to be worn inside of Labassa mansion.
  • There are up to 20 car spaces available in the Labassa carpark, once this is at capacity parking is in surrounding streets.
  • Visitors are not permitted to park in Manor Grove.

Aiden Hodder

baritone

Lyric baritone and self-taught composer Aidan Hodder holds a Master of Music Studies from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, where he was a student of Margaret Schindler. In 2019, 2021 and 2022 he also participated in the Lisa Gasteen National Opera Program. 

 

Aidan made his professional debut in 2023 in State Opera South Australia’s G&S FEST, singing John Wellington Wells (The Sorcerer) and appearing in the chorus for The Pirates of Penzance and H.M.S. Pinafore. 

 

Aidan is the recipient of the John Wegner AO Opera Scholarship and the Max & Jill Schutz Opera Society Scholarship with Melba Opera Trust.

Eden Shifroni

Soprano

Soprano Eden Shifroni holds a Bachelor of Music (Classical Performance) and a Master of Music Studies (Opera Performance) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Her notable roles include Pamina (The Magic Flute), Musetta (La bohème), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica) and Poppea in the Sydney Conservatorium and NIDA production of The Coronation of Poppea. In December 2023, she created the role of Jess in Track Works – a new opera at Sydney’s Mortuary Station.  

 

Eden is the recipient of the Dame Nellie Melba Scholarship, Patrick & Vivian Gordon Award and Ryman Healthcare Opera Scholarship with Melba Opera Trust.

Caitlin Forrest

Mezzo-soprano

Mezzo-soprano Caitlin Forrest graduated from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Music Performance (Classical Voice), where she studied with Emma Matthews. Performance highlights have included Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, and the roles of Book of Fate, Old Woman and Mrs Northwind in Jonathan Dove’s Enchanted Pig. Concert appearances include singing Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Vivaldi’s Gloria 

 

Caitlin is the recipient of the Joseph Sambrook Opera Scholarship with Melba Opera Trust.

Stacey Yang

Associate Artist

Stacey Yang returns as a Melba Artist in 2024. She was repetiteur for Track Works at the Sydney’s Mortuary Station, participated in the Sydney Opera House’s 50th anniversary celebrations as both organist and pianist, and was repetiteur for Opera Australia’s touring production of Cinderella.   

 

Stacey recently completed a Master of Music (Collaborative Piano) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and is a doctoral candidate in organ performance and literature at the Eastman School of Music. 

 

Stacey is the recipient of the Southey Shelmerdine Repetiteur Scholarship, the Margaret Schofield Opera Scholarship and the Mel & Nina Waters Award with Melba Opera Trust.
