Australia’s deep-time history spans more than 65,000 years — but how do we know what we know about First Nations life in the past?

Join us for an engaging talk exploring how contemporary archaeological practice reveals ancient technologies, food systems, and cultural traditions. An NTAV archaeologist will walk you through modern investigative methods and share remarkable case studies, including the Budj Bim Cultural Landscape in southwestern Victoria, an extensive aquaculture system created over 6000 years ago that demonstrates sophisticated and deep environmental knowledge.

Discover how archaeology helps illuminate Australia’s deep past.
