Step into a long gone era of medicine at this unique country pharmacy
Step into the time capsule that is Dow’s Pharmacy and transport yourself back to the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries during the annual Chiltern Antique Fair on Friday 26 August from 3pm to 6pm and Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August from 10am to 3pm.
Donated to the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) in June 1988, Dow’s Pharmacy is one of the few authentic historic shops remaining in Australia with all its original fittings, equipment and records still intact.
Built in 1859 and purchased by Hilda and Roy Dow in 1930, Dow’s Pharmacy still has much of its content intact with over 4,000 original items in its collection.
Entry fees into Dow’s Pharmacy range from $3-$5 and members enter for free. All proceeds from Dow’s Pharmacy go towards supporting the National Trust in conserving and protecting Victoria’s natural, cultural and built heritage.
About Chiltern Antique Fair
Coinciding with the Chiltern Antique Fair, stopping into Dow’s makes the perfect weekend getaway complete. The annual fair is one of Victoria’s best, attracting dealers and enthusiasts from around the country.
Held in the Chiltern War Memorial Hall and Library the Fair will showcase the full range of antiques from fine china and porcelain to furnishings, jewellery, artworks and more.
The Chiltern Antique Fair will be on from Friday 26 August to Sunday 28 August with varying opening hours.
