About Barwon Park Mansion

Barwon Park Mansion is a signature property of The National Trust of Australia (Victoria), the leading heritage and conservation organisation in the state.

Embarrassed by having to entertain the visiting Duke of Edinburgh at an undistinguished homestead, pioneer pastoralist Thomas Austin and his wife Elizabeth built this lavish 42 room mansion in 1871. At its completion, Barwon Park was the most celebrated mansion house in western Victoria and provides visitors with an authentic vision of Australia’s past.

Barwon Park is open to the public each Wednesday and Sunday, and a popluar venue for weddings and unique events.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Victoria and recognise their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.
