Join renowned artist Echo Wu to learn one of the worlds oldest continuous art traditions: Chinese Brush Painting.
Inspired by the beautiful gardens of Rippon Lea, this technique will ask you to look closely at nature and focus on producing work that captures the energy of plants and landscapes.

About the artist

Echo Wu is a Chinese-Australian artist born in Nanjing, China, and trained in Chinese brush painting at Nanjing Normal University.
She founded Echo’s Chinese Painting Studio in 2009, and since then has been teaching extensively at her own studio, as well as at community centres, libraries, schools, and artist groups, building an excellent reputation for both her teaching and artistic practice.
In 2013, Echo won the Gold Prize at the Golden Bauhinia Cup Hong Kong Invitation Competition, and was also the winner of the Victorian Artists Society (VAS) Summer Exhbition in 2026 . She has held multiple solo exhibitions at Box Hill Town Hall Gallery and has exhibited widely across Melbourne. Echo has
also been invited by the National Gallery of Victoria and Federation Square to deliver demonstrations and masterclasses for major cultural events. In 2023, Echo was nominated for Best Design – Set at the Matilda Awards in Queensland for the stage play Slow Boat by Anna Yen.
