Free for National Trust Members

Members are invited to enjoy exclusive twilight access to the magnificent Labassa Mansion and explore its grand interiors at their own pace.

Experience the grandeur of Labassa Mansion at twilight in this exclusive National Trust Members-only event.

Usually accessible by guided tour only, this special open mansion evening invites members to wander through the lavish interiors at their own pace, discovering the remarkable details and stories that make Labassa one of Melbourne’s most extraordinary historic Mansions. Information and interpretation material will be available throughout the house to help bring its history to life.

Marvel at the mansion’s lavish Japanese wallpapers, ornate stained glass, and its rare trompe l’oeil ceiling. Along the way, uncover the many lives of Labassa — from the residence of a silent film star to a haven for artists and bohemians, later transformed into post-war immigrant flats and a centre of 1960s–70s counterculture.

Young visitors can also enjoy searching for the mansion’s hidden non-human “critters”, adding a fun discovery element for families.

This is a National Trust Members-only event. Bookings are essential.
