Competition Terms and Conditions
By submitting an entry into the Bird Photography Competition 2025 (‘Competition’) held by the National Trust of Australia Victoria ABN 61 004 356 192 (‘NTAV’), each entrant (you) and, where you are under the age of 18, your parent/guardian, acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Entry
- The Competition is free to enter.
- You must be 16 years or older to enter the Competition.
- Where you are under the age of 18:
- You must have the consent of your parent/guardian to enter.
- Your parent/guardian must read the completed entry form and agree to these terms and conditions for your entry to be valid.
- You can submit a maximum of one entry. If multiple entries are received, only the first will be considered.
- Your photograph must:
- Have been taken inside Rippon Lea Estate (192 Hotham Street, Elsternwick VIC 3185) within the last six months.
- Be captured using a digital camera or smartphone.
- Not include synthetic or AI-generated elements (including generative fill in post-production).
- Not be created or developed using any generative AI tools.
- The Competition opens on 1 March 2025, and entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM AEST on 30 April 2025.
- Your entry must:
- Meet and be submitted in accordance with the specifications outlined on the entry form.
- Include a completed online entry form.
- You may be required to provide original RAW files or equivalent for verification.
- You, and any identifiable person in the photograph, may be asked to sign a model release.
2. Judging Entries
- A judging panel selected by the NTAV will review each valid entry and select nine finalists. The panel's decision is final.
- The winner will be decided by a People's Choice vote conducted online at www.nationaltrust.org.au/vic from 5 May 2025 (9 AM) to 16 May 2025 (11:59 PM).
- The entrant with the most votes will be declared the winner.
- The winner will be notified by phone or email.
3. Remuneration and Prize
- The winner will receive a $500 voucher for Michael’s Camera Hire (151 Chapel St, St Kilda VIC 3182).
- If the winner does not claim the prize within three weeks, it will be awarded to the runner-up.
- The prize is not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash.
4. Copyright and Moral Rights
- Finalists and winners grant the NTAV, sponsors, and partners an irrevocable worldwide license to use their photographs in various media formats for promotional and archival purposes.
- The NTAV may adapt photographs for online galleries, large-format reproductions, or marketing campaigns.
- Entrants must own all intellectual property rights or have necessary approvals to submit their photographs.
- Entries found to infringe on intellectual property rights will be disqualified.
- The NTAV will use its best efforts to credit photographers in all Competition publicity.
5. Release and Indemnity
- Finalists and winners release the NTAV and partners from any claims related to the use of their photographs.
- Finalists and winners indemnify the NTAV and partners against claims related to intellectual property infringement or use of their photographs.
6. Exhibitions and Events
- Finalists and winners’ photographs will be published on the National Trust website.
- Entrants agree to participate in official Competition events and media opportunities without additional remuneration.
- If under 18, finalists and winners must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at Competition-related activities.
- The NTAV or Competition partners may exhibit selected entries at additional events.
7. General
- The Competition is a game of skill; chance plays no part in determining the winner.
- Employees and Board Members of the NTAV, and their immediate families, are ineligible to enter.
- By entering, entrants (or their parent/guardian if under 18) acknowledge and accept these terms and conditions.
- The NTAV reserves the right to modify or cancel the Competition or these terms and conditions at any time.
