Oxford St Prelim Demolition Works - January 2022
National Trust submission against the preliminary demolition works at 82-106 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst
The National Trust of Australia (NSW) has a long history in developing submissions at all levels of government advocating for the identification, protection, conservation and celebration of heritage, and for the heritage profession itself.
Submissions are an important element of our Advocacy program – they provide an avenue for us to communicate directly with key decision makers, to provide expert insight and to ensure that decision makers give heritage considerations due weight.
Under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, decision makers are required to take submissions into account. As well as recognising that the public has ideas and information that can improve planning outcomes, it is also intended to improve the quality and legitimacy of planning decisions.
