Ballarat Branch

The Ballarat Branch was first formed in 1960, the first regional Branch outside of Melbourne, following community concern regarding the destruction of historical assets. Following its inauguration the Branch soon set about the task of classification of the many fine buildings and veranda’s throughout Ballarat. The Branch works closely with council and the community on local heritage issues and new members are always welcome at any of the Branch’s meetings and events.

The Corner Shops of Ballarat

This small illustrated directory locates shops and shopping trends on a map of Ballarat, providing photographs and names of former owners and the shop type. Available to purchase for $20 by contacting the Branch at Ballarat.Branch@nattrust.com.au

The Ballarat Bluestone

The Ballarat Bluestone book is a guide to the stonemason’s craft as well as a self guided walking tour of central Ballarat where the grandeur of the buildings can be explored. The walking tour points out different makers marks, surfaces finishes and different techniques. Little treasures, like a dog’s drinking bowl, footprints of verandah posts of the past, a access marks in commercial areas where the services were brought into the buildings. The walk will take around 45 minutes to an hour. Available to purchase for $20 by contacting the Branch at Ballarat.Branch@nattrust.com.au
