Spend Valentine’s Day exploring heritage

Our historical houses and beautiful gardens are perfect for a day out with your loved one.

Some of our properties are back to regular opening times, while others are only open on a reduced schedule. With that said, a handful of our much loved places will be opening for one day only in February – on Valentine’s Day weekend.

Here are our top picks to make it a day to remember.

Riversdale in Goulburn

As part of our 75th Anniversary celebrations, we’ll be hosting a very special ‘Valentine’s Day at Riversdale’, making this our top pick. Riversdale is the perfect romantic getaway.

On Saturday 13 February, enjoy a picnic in the award-winning gardens, while enjoying music and garden games. Morning and afternoon tea will be available, and you can enjoy a complimentary glass of wine later in the day – between 2pm and 4pm.

You’ll also be able to view the ‘The Old Town: Goulburn and Riversdale 1820 and Beyond’ exhibition, which includes unique collections items from the past 200 years.

Note the event is only taking place on 13 February, Riversdale will be closed on Sunday 14 February.

Saumarez Homestead in Armidale

On Sunday 14 February, Armidale Farmers’ Market will be returning to Saumarez Homestead for ‘Harvest to Heritage’.

See what fresh produce and gourmet treats New England has to offer as you enjoy a lazy breakfast, brunch or lunch, do some shopping, and listen to some live music.

What makes this day even more special is this will be the first time Saumarez Homestead will be opening its doors on a regular basis since we closed during COVID-19 lockdown.

Everglades House and Gardens in Leura

Surrounding the grace and elegance of this Art Deco gem are designer gardens and mystically rambling glades. Take a stroll along winding paths, enjoy the tranquil reflection pool and experience breathtaking views overlooking the Blue Mountains at this picturesque property.

If you’re not free Valentine’s weekend, not to worry, Everglades House & Gardens is open Thursdays to Mondays every week.
