An introduction to art with practical activities included.
YEARS K-6 PROGRAM
This program offers primary school audiences the opportunity to learn about the practice of portraiture and to experience the variety of practice in this field.
Students will participate in role play becoming artists, critics and subjects to bring the works to life as well as making their very own portraits to take home.
The Portraiture program links to the About Me Unit of Work for the Early Stage 1 Visual Arts Syllabus VAES1.1-1.4 as well Stage 1 and 2 VAS1.1-1.4 VAS2.3, 2.4. The program can also be integrated into the HSIE Unit of Work This is Me and later stages CCS1.1 and CUS1.3.
2 hours- $300 per group up to 15 students per group
Art Day Out: Exhibition Tour & Landscape Workshop
After a tour of the current exhibition, spend the day making art outside; enjoying the spectacular view from Observatory Hill- taking in the historic Rocks area, the Harbour Bridge and the bustling CBD. This program is a perfect way to introduce the concept of making art about place and landscapes through a variety of structured creative exercises. Bring your hat and sunscreen and enjoy a picnic under a shady tree with the best view in Sydney.
This program is available anytime, but could be timed to link with the annual Salon ds Refusés exhibition which features landscape paintings not included in the Wynne Prize exhibition. Wet weather options are available.
Hello Hill, Hello Harbour: Art Day Out for Primary Students
This program involves nature studies, mapping, story telling and landscape drawings. It can be integrated with K-6 HSIE Outcomes Change and Continuity CCS1.2, CCS2,1, CCS2.2; Environments ENS1.5, ENS1.6, ENS2.5 and ENS2.6, as well as the K-6 Creative Arts Syllabus.
3 hours- $375 per group, up to 15 students at a time.
