Regency Day Out at Old Government House took place on 21 September 2025, celebrating fashion, heritage, and the arrival of spring. The event brought new life to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site with a vibrant and immersive experience.
Period-accurate dance performances, and expert talks offered fascinating insights into Regency life, while market stalls showcased an array of vintage and handmade wares.

A highlight of the event was the Fashionable Silhouettes exhibition, showcasing rare and historically significant gowns, including a delicate dress made for Anna King (wife of Governor King) in 1805. The exhibition is still on display at Old Government House until 21 December 2025.
State Member for Parramatta Donna Davis MP recently congratulated the National Trust on the success of the event in state parliament. Ms Davis described the Regency Day out as “a truly delightful event that combined history and culture in a fun-filled atmosphere while bringing our community closer together.”

Ms Davis noted that the grounds of Old Government House were “the perfect setting to admire period fashion, browse through vintage treasures or enjoy a relaxing picnic in the beautiful surroundings. It was a day filled with vintage cosplay and connection to a bygone era that shaped Parramatta and continues to be a tourist drawcard. Thank you to the National Trust for creating such a memorable and enjoyable experience I look forward to events like this becoming a staple on the local calendar to showcase our incredible heritage sites and characters.”
This event was supported by a City of Parramatta Council Community Grant and Audible.
