Old Government House, Parramatta: Venue Hire

Receive your guests on the vice-regal portico and provide them with a private reception in the principal reception rooms - the only 18th century rooms in Australia.

This elegant Georgian mansion with stunning interiors, one of the nation’s most important historic houses, is set in 200 acres of parkland on the Parramatta River.

Old Government House was built by 1816 and is the oldest surviving public building in Australia, set within Parramatta Park with sweeping views of Parramatta River. The beautiful stately home is not only considered an Australian treasure but is now also on the World Heritage List. Old Government House was home to the first ten colonial governors and now holds one of the nations most outstanding collections of Australian colonial furniture.

The interior is meticulously and beautifully restored to the tastes of Elizabeth and Lachlan Macquarie (1810-1821). Old Government House is ideal for wedding parties. The house, with its impressive portico makes a striking backdrop for photos. Give your guests a welcome to remember with a house museum ‘Grand Entrance’ to your reception in the newly landscaped courtyard.
