The 2024 Collections Appeal

Thanks to the remarkable generosity of the National Trust supporters and donors, the conservation of irreplaceable historical items has been made possible.

Featuring over 60,000 items, the National Trust (NSW) collection is one of the largest and most historically significant collections in Australia. From exquisite tapestries, notable artworks, rare items of clothing and an ornate gilded harp, to everyday objects that offer a unique glimpse into the past – each item tells a story and connects us with our shared history.

Caring for these precious objects is vital, however many of these important items are now in urgent need of conservation and require specialist work to be preserved. To help safeguard these historical items the National Trust launched our Collections Appeal.

We have been thrilled to receive an extraordinary response. With your help we have raised over $150,000 to support the important work of conserving our collection. The exceptional generosity of donors and supporters will help ensure that the stories of the diverse communities NSW will continue to live on through the National Trust Collection.

National Trust Collections Manager Rebecca Pinchin said, “I am delighted that we will be able to carry out essential conservation work on significant items in the National Trust Collection. Every item in our collection provides a fascinating link with the past and thanks to the outstanding support of the Collections Appeal the longevity of many of these irreplaceable objects is now assured.”

CEO of the National Trust (NSW) Debbie Mills said, “I would like to personally thank everyone who has contributed to the Collections Appeal. Your extraordinary generosity will have real impact and enable the precious historical items under our care and the stories they tell to live on, connecting future generations with our shared past.”
