Special ways to celebrate Mother’s Day in NSW

Sunday 8th May is Mother’s Day. If you’re looking for a special way to treat Mum this year, we have lots of ideas for relaxed garden strolls, historical day trips, and lavish afternoon teas. Here are some of our events happening across NSW.

Things to do this Mother’s Day

Clydesdales and Carnations

Enjoy flowers upon arrival and a Clydesdale horse meet and greet at historic Cooma Cottage as part of a new Mother’s Day event for the whole family.

Tea at Grossmann House

Take a tour of a fully restored Victorian house museum, followed by a sumptuous offering of homemade tarts, sandwiches, tea and coffee in this beautiful National Trust property.

The Magic of Mother’s Day

A much-loved tradition. Treat mum to a slice of history and enjoy a special display of memorabilia from three generations of remarkable Porter women.

Other places to explore

Autumn colour at Retford Park

Be mesmerised by the autumn gardens at Retford Park in Bowral. The Persian Carpet perennial border is peaking, trees are turning, and fungi are beginning to fruit. After exploring the gardens, stop by the regional art gallery and enjoy a bite to eat at the newly opened café.

A family picnic at Saumarez Homestead

Join a house tour and be guided through this spectacular 30-room Edwardian mansion, which is a time capsule of 19th century family life. You can also bring your own picnic to enjoy in the Homestead's gardens.

A historic day out at Dundullimal

If you're near Dubbo, visit the historic Dundullimal Homestead, which features sandstone stables, a timber church, and beautiful gardens for wandering. The Shed Cafe is also open for Mother's Day refreshments.
