Central Barangaroo Approval

Views from Observatory Hill will be protected in the approved final stage of Barangaroo.

Thanks to the strong advocacy of the National Trust (NSW) and Millers Point community, the approved building envelopes for Central Barangaroo have been substantially reduced to protect the important views of the harbour as seen from Observatory Hill.

The National Trust have been advocating for the best possible heritage outcomes at Barangaroo for more than a decade. These efforts have seen the 20-storey tower originally proposed adjacent to Nawi Cove and the headland park, reduced down to a five-storey building. We will continue to monitor and advocate for the heritage of this important area.

The Minister for Planning and Public Spaces has granted approval of the modification request for Central Barangaroo.

The National Trust of Australia (NSW) mission is to advocate for the conservation of built, cultural and natural heritage. For more than 80 years we have been at the centre of the state’s most important heritage campaigns. Explore more of our advocacy work.
