Bathurst claims a spot in the Aussie Town of the Year awards

Home to our very own Miss Traill's House, Bathurst is one of NSW's most beloved regional destinations. Now, the town has been ranked fifth in the Aussie Town of the Year awards, and we couldn't agree more!

Ten Australian towns have been recognised by travel website Wotif as the top domestic travel destinations for 2024.

The awards recognise trending destinations based on data that looks at accommodation affordability, quality and traveller feedback.

This year, there was no Byron Bay or Broome in sight – instead the winners are a diverse range of towns around the country, with Bathurst scooping up fifth place.

The awards tipped a hat to Bathurst for its wealth of history and heritage, noting it had lots to offer visitors, including authentic gold rush villages, the thrill of v8 Supercars during major races, and world-class museums.

A three-hour drive from Sydney, Bathurst makes for a perfect countryside getaway. It’s home to the National Trust’s Miss Traill’s House – a Victorian-era bungalow with a unique collection that once belonged to some of the early colonial settlers of the district.

We’re very proud to see this special regional town and its history recognised. Plan a trip and make sure to include Miss Traill’s House on your itinerary!
