Step into the Regency era and enjoy an immersive day of costume, conversation, and creativity, set against the backdrop of a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site.
The Regency Fair offers free entry to more than 30 vintage and artisan market stalls, dance demonstrations, lawn games, competitions and the opportunity to dress up, promenade, and enjoy the historic setting of Old Government House.
Stop by the food trucks or pack a picnic to savor amidst the vast grounds.
A series of fascinating ticketed house tours, workshops, and talks are also on offer.
Free demonstrations
11:30am – 12:00pm, Regency Dance Display: Watch skilled dancers bring English Country Dance to life, just as they would have appeared in a Regency ballroom. From graceful formations to lively group patterns, this display offers a glimpse into the social heart of Regency-era entertainment – a world of etiquette, courtship and celebration played out on the dance floor.
12:30pm – 1pm, Scottish Dance Display: This display showcases the energy and precision of Scottish-influenced dances of the Regency era, guided by experienced dancers demonstrating the formations and style that would have delighted colonial society.
1:30pm – 2pm, Regency Dance Participation: No dance experience required – join our dance callers for a friendly, hands-on introduction to the steps and figures of English Country Dance. Perfect for beginners wanting to learn the basics, or anyone keen to try a little Regency-era footwork for themselves.
2:30pm – 3pm, Best Dressed Competition: Step out in your finest period attire for a chance to be crowned Best Handmade Regency (for those who’ve crafted their own authentic outfit), Best Regency-Inspired (for those wearing a purchased or assembled Regency-style ensemble), and Best Original or Vintage Piece – open to genuine antique or vintage garments and accessories. Whatever your approach, all are welcome to enter!
