View a unique display exploring the art of performance at Everglades, from the 1930s.
Everglades has hosted many events over the years, all of which have introduced this heritage wonder to a wider audience; from brass bands to philharmonic orchestras; and calisthenics exhibitions to Shakespeare performances.
As part of the design and landscaping of the gardens in the 1930s, the stage was already set. With spectacular views of the Blue Mountains, an outdoor theatre terrace was created in the gardens which has been operational since its first known performance in 1941. This was at a time when filmmaking, cinemas and “picture palaces”, as they were known, were becoming prominent across Australia.
This display will explore the art and history of performance at Everglades House & Gardens, as well as highlighting the theatrical collections held by the National Trust.
Exhibition is included in a valid Everglades General Entry ticket.
