About the tutor
Pippita Bennett’s practice is grounded in her home on Dharug and Gundungurra Country. Working with hand-dyed threads and textiles, she uses leaves, bark and flowers gathered from her surroundings and the wild places she travels, alongside thrifted materials that carry traces of their past lives. These fabrics are imbued with memory – of place, process and use.
Pippita works across domestic and outdoor settings, allowing stitching to follow the contours of branches, rocks and thoughts. Her stitches operate as a visual language, recording place and time as layered landscapes of memory. She studied art at the Tin Sheds for her architecture degree and is currently undertaking a Master of Art Therapy.
