Historic Saumarez Homestead features on the garden trail at this year’s New England Garden Festival.
Held over two days, the 2026 New England Garden Festival offers workshops from gardening celebrities Hannah Moloney and Jerry Coleby-Williams, more than 100 stalls, entertainment and open gardens from Tenterfield to Uralla.
Saumarez Homestead is the heritage jewel of New England. The 30-room Edwardian mansion is surrounded by 2 hectares of formal dog-friendly gardens. The gardens come alive in spring with swathes of bulbs, cottage flowers and wisteria. Pack a picnic to enjoy under the shade of the centenarian trees.
The downstairs of the house will also open on the day*, allowing visitors to explore a remarkable collection of 19th century furnishings, fashion and historic objects relating to the White family’s life.
At least six other gardens will also be open to visitors in the lead up and days of the festival. For more information, visit the New England Garden Festival website.
*House entry: $10 general admission, members free.
