(Sold out) East Perth Cemeteries walking tour: Strong women of the 19th century

To mark the 2023 Australian Heritage Festival and Boorloo Heritage Festival, we're offering a special walking tour: Strong Women of the 19th Century. Learn more about the women buried in or associated with the cemeteries and the adversities they faced.

East Perth Cemeteries, on Whadjuk Noongar Country in an area known as Martellup, was the site of the first colonial burial ground in Perth. In 1829 a general cemetery was established, followed by six more of different denominations, plus one for felons, until the closure of the eight cemeteries in 1899.

More than 10,000 people who died in colonial Perth are buried here, from the wealthy and prominent to the poor and unknown.

We have two walking tour times available; 2.00pm and 3.30pm. Places for the walking tours are limited and bookings are essential.

Tickets: Adults $ 15.00 | Children $ 5.00 | Concession $ 12.00 | Family $ 40.00 | Members $ 5.00.

This event is part of the Australian Heritage Festival, proudly supported by Lotterywest. It is also part of the City of Perth’s Boorloo Heritage Festival.
