Thank you for considering leaving a gift in your Will to support the work of the National Trust of Western Australia. A bequest is the ultimate gift for the future and the Trust is very grateful for gifts both large and small.

Your thoughtful gift will help the Trust care for places and collections that represent the heritage of our state and tell stories that connect our generations.

Preserving and telling stories is our reason for being. The Government and people of Western Australia entrust us with their treasures and expect us to conserve them, to illuminate them and to share them with the community.

Each year hundreds of thousands of Western Australians, adults and children, volunteers and visitors arrive, engage, enjoy and are inspired by conversations, tours, activities, events and programs that help them understand the stories of our State.

We invite you to become one of the people who help make this possible in the future.

You can make different types of gifts in your Will to the National Trust including:

  • A residuary gift – what is left of your estate once all other gifts and costs have been paid
  • A pecuniary gift – a gift of a specific amount
  • A percentage gift – a specific proportion of your estate
  • A gift of assets –  gifts of assets such as shares, property or real estate

We encourage you to seek legal advice and to consider your family and loved ones when writing your Will. You can be very proud of your decision to leave a bequest to the National Trust and we encourage you to talk about your plans with your family.

The following general wording can be used as the basis for a gift to the National Trust in your Will. You will also find suggested wording for specific clauses in the expandable section below under ‘Information for Solicitors and Executors’.

“I give to the National Trust of Australia (WA) (insert the details of your gift) and I direct that the receipt of the CEO of the National Trust of Australia (WA) will be sufficient discharge to my Executor/Trustee.”

Please let us know if you have decided to leave a bequest to the National Trust so we can make sure we understand your wishes and how we might acknowledge your gift. We would also like to keep you up to date with our programs and invite you to see how our team works to conserve and tell the stories of our State. Any discussions that we have with you and your decision to make a bequest will be kept confidential unless you say otherwise.
