• Conservation Covenanting and Stewardship: With a large percentage of Australia’s significant natural heritage on private land, private landholders are critical to the long-term protection and conservation of natural and cultural values. The National Trust’s Conservation Covenanting and Stewardship program has registered 177 covenants protecting more than 17,000 hectares of bushland in Western Australia, helping to protect and conserve natural heritage forever.
• Heritage Appeals: Through the Trust’s Heritage Appeals program, our staff work with local governments and community groups to establish and administer heritage appeals on their behalf to raise funds for conservation and interpretation of Western Australia’s heritage.
• Heritage Register: The National Trust’s Heritage Register works to identify and assess places and objects of cultural heritage significance. Members of the public may nominate places and objects for assessment by the Classification Standing Committee, and if approved, they are included on the List of Classified Places. While the register does not have a statutory role, it supports the Trust’s advocacy activities, the establishment of Heritage Appeals and is an important record of WA’s heritage.
