The Burra Courthouse is part of the unique Burra Heritage Trail.
“The Burra” originally consisted of 3 towns, Redruth, Kooringa and Aberdeen .
The Redruth Courthouse ( now Burra Courthouse) was erected in 1857.
In 1864 the original single storey courthouse was enlarged, the roof raised and a Clerk’s Room added.
In 1878 a porch was added.
It operated as a courthouse until 1986.
Mr A Forder was the oldest Court Clerk in the Colony, starting in 1860 he was Clerk of the Redruth Courthouse (now Burra Courthouse) for 40years
