Public Sector Commission Review of the National Trust of Australia (WA)

The Trust thanks the Public Sector Commission for its comprehensive review of the current governance, transparency, accountability and reporting arrangements of the Trust and of the roles and responsibilities of and between the National Trust of Australia (WA) and the Minister responsible for the Administration of the National Trust of Australia (WA) Act 1964.

The Trust thanks the Public Sector Commission for its comprehensive review of the current governance, transparency, accountability and reporting arrangements of the Trust and of the roles and responsibilities of and between the National Trust of Australia (WA) and the Minister responsible for the Administration of the National Trust of Australia (WA) Act 1964.
The Trust notes the findings of the Public Sector Commissioner in

“…that the overall operation of the Trust with regard to its current governance arrangements is generally good due to…

· an organisational commitment to providing good governance;

· general governance operating procedures being appropriate; and

· a focus on developing and improving governance procedures”

The Trust further notes the Commissioner’s recommendations that recourse should be had to ‘options not requiring legislative amendment’ prior to the possible consideration of legislative options.
The Trust welcomes the recommendations of the Commissioner that “…have the potential to improve aspects of governance, accountability and transparency of the Trust” and responds positively to the detailed recommendations contained in the Report.
