Women in War: The Home Front

Join The Castellorizian Association of Western Australia and the Friends of ANZAC Cottage on Sunday 26 March as they celebrate women in war

March is Women in History month when we celebrate the women who have made an impact on our lives. The Castellorizian Association of Western Australia, in partnership with the Friends of ANZAC Cottage, is following this theme as they begin a series of lectures devoted to the topic, “Women in War”. The first of these will be focussing on the women on the home front and will present two very different aspects of this topic.
Anne Chapple from the Friends of ANZAC Cottage will explore the stories of the women who were left to keep the ‘home fires burning’ during World War I in Western Australia.

The second speaker, Mrs Georgia Karasiotou, Greek Consul will talk about the heroism of women in the Greek War of Independence , 1821 to 1832. In this case the home front was actually the field of battle.

This event will take place on Sunday March 26 with doors open at 2.00pm and talks to begin at 2.30pm. The venue is Castellorizian House, 160 ANZAC Road, Mount Hawthorn (on the corner of ANZAC Road and Kalgoorlie Street).

The cost, which is all inclusive and includes a delicious afternoon tea, is only $5 with all proceeds going to these two not-for-profit, community based and volunteer run organisations.
Bookings are essential. For further information and to reserve your seat, please contact Anne Chapple, Friends of ANZAC Cottage, on 0411445582 or Stephanie Meagher, Castellorizian Association of WA on 0450 609 491.
