Early spring delights at Sherwood Homestead site

NOTE POSTPONED TO SUNDAY 25 SEPTEMBER DUE TO THE ROAD CONDITIONS AND THE GUIDE’S DODGY KNEE

The Heritage Walk on Sunday on 28 August is to the site of Sherwood Homestead in the Brindabellas.  Nothing remains of Henry and Eliza Phillips’ slab hut nor dairy farm but for the exotic plantings of oaks and bulbs – glorious spring flowering bulbs, which will make the trek (an hour each way) from Blue Range campground worth it. Blue Range has its own interesting story of Italian internees during World War II.

Note: This walk is more strenuous than our suburban walks with a long downhill and uphill. Bring a snack and enjoy the picnic facilities (with toilets) at the meeting point. For the comfort and safety of other walkers, we do not allow dogs on our walks.
