NAIDOC Week event
Reconciliation is not a destination, it is a path all Australians must travel, together. Early this century, First Nations artists were asked to contribute a sculpture as part of the Reconciliation Place project and the results are not just beautiful to look at, they have a powerful story to tell.
On the first day of NAIDOC Week join First Nations guide, Roslyn Hull, for a walk and a yarn about how these pieces can be interpreted as a map for our journey. An easy 1-1.5 hour stroll with level entry and exit, the whole walk is paved.
Parking close by at the NLA or Questacon. We will meet at the National Library end of Reconciliation Place, at the artwork called ‘Fire and Water’ but you might like to visit the galleries in the NLA to see Eddie Mabo’s story before we start at 11.
The walk will finish at the High Court, with the option of adjourning to the Portrait Gallery cafe to continue talking.
