Nestled in a tranquil, natural bush setting beneath the Tidbinbilla Range, Nil Desperandum maintains its heritage charm and offers visitors a feeling of remoteness just a short drive away from the centre of Canberra. The historic European pisé house provides a beautiful, rustic wilderness experience. Another feature of the site is the camellia grove.
We have been given permission for a small number of AWD or 4WD vehicles to drive to the site as it is 12km return walk. We will meet at the Visitors Centre in Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve at 10am, head to Rangers HQ to wash vehicles and then to Nil Desperandum, have a walk, some refreshments then return.
Please indicate on the booking form if you have a suitable vehicle (AWD or 4WD) and would be willing to transport others from the ranger station. If you don’t have a suitable vehicle, we will try to place you with someone who does. We can’t guarantee this and we will refund your ticket if necessary.
