Swinger Hill Heritage Walk (REPEAT)

Swinger Hill was 'a notable example of medium density housing demonstrating semi-attached and attached dwellings, low maintenance yards, courtyards and exterior communal space'.

[Note that this is a repeat of a Heritage Walk in July 2023 but with the addition of a potential visit to one of the residences in Swinger Hill.]
Take a walk through an area planned as medium density by the National Capital Development Commission, with building starting in the 1970s. See how the development adapts to the local topography of being on a hill and where it fits with its surrounds.
Guide: Gary Watkins, nearby Woden resident and Manager of the National Trust (ACT).

Please note: The walk is approximately 1.5 km but contains some steep sections, stairs, narrow passageways and dirt paths due to the topography of Swinger Hill. A reasonable level of fitness will be required for this walk.

Sunday 27 July 9.30-11.30 am
