The week of the 19th June 2023 saw a number of cultural burns being conducted across the Yorke Peninsula including NTSA’s Rocky Bend nature reserve by Nharangga dhura Narungga people with support and knowledge sharing from Firesticks Alliance.
A collaboration involving Nharangga First Nations, Yorke Peninsula Council, Landcare Association of SA, Northern and Yorke Landscape Board, Australian Plants Society, National Trust SA and other community members and organisations. An immersive and spiritual experience with abundant storytelling and knowledge and wisdom shared that will hopefully continue for generations.
We all have so much to learn by listening to and observing Country. The response from the burnt grassland and bushland sites will be great to see! National Trust SA hopes to continue these positive partnerships well into the future for the benefit of people and Country.
