Opening of “Shipwreck Hunters Discover the Long Forgotten South Australian” Exhibition
Join us at the Victor Harbor National Trust Museum as we celebrate the arrival of this remarkable new exhibition — Shipwreck Hunters Discover the Long Forgotten South Australian.
This fascinating display tells the story of the South Australian, the state’s first recorded shipwreck, lost off Encounter Bay in 1837 and rediscovered in 2018 by maritime archaeologist Dr James Hunter and his team. Through a blend of technology, comic art, logbooks, and authentic artefacts, visitors can explore the ship’s story and its vital role in South Australia’s early colonial history.
