This workshop will give you a basic introduction to portrait drawing in charcoal, pastel and conté crayon, working on a tinted background. Bring an A3 cartridge sketchpad and/or A3 paper clipped to an A3 board. Tinted paper will be provided. Bring charcoal and conté crayons if you have them. Some samples of pastels will be available to try, if you don’t have pastels. The conté set below is recommended, available from most art shops or online.
We will use a live model.
Cost: $15, plus $10 to cover model’s fee – Total $25
Julia has taught beginners’ drawing for over 30 years, at community centres and further education colleges in the UK as well as South Australia, and at the Adelaide Central School of Art. Julia also runs portrait sessions at Port Noarlunga Arts Centre, which are open to anyone, whatever their experience or ability.
