Join local author Chris Holyday at Stirling Libraries – Karrinyup to hear about Margaret Forrest’s fascinating life! As Margaret Hamersley, she was raised in the backblocks of Australian colonial life; as Lady Forrest, she died the widow of Australia’s first Peer of the Realm. The story of Margaret’s life may help to integrate Westralian and National history, as well as draw attention to the conspicuous lack of female portraits in Australian historiography.
Chris Holyday is the author of several local history books, including the Recollections from the coast: remember old North Beach, Trigg, Watermans Bay and Marmion (2022). His new book, A Premier Position, will be available for purchase on the day. Please bring cash for book purchases.
