History of Parramatta & District Historical Society

This talk is about the history of Parramatta & District Historical Society, the oldest local historical society in NSW, which is 110 years old this year. The Society is the local authority on the local & family history and heritage of Parramatta, and operates Hambledon Cottage, now 200 years old.

Parramatta & District Historical Society’s history is extensive, being 110 years old as founded in 1913.
From its initial 47 members, it has grown to some 200 members.
For many years, it did not have its own home but now has had one for nearly 60 years.
