PAST EVENT

Historical book collection launch

Barry Strickland will visit Darkan to talk about the extensive collection of historically important books that he has donated to the Darkan Town Library. This will be followed by a presentation about the Shire books that are in the library. Both collections can be used for research purposes.

How much history is hidden in books that are not available online? This is an opportunity to see first hand some of the books that are difficult to source, rare or no longer available for purchase. This special, donated collection of books covers topics such as WA, Perth and Goldfields History, Art, Architecture, and other specialty areas. Come along to the launch of this collection and hear how to use these books for family history research and other research associated with the State’s history. Afternoon tea will be served at 2pm and Barry Strickland will discuss the importance of this collection. This will be followed by a discussion about books in the historical section of the library many of which have been written as family histories. Everyone welcome.
