View a stunning exhibition of the Art of Paul Rolfe featuring landscapes in Field of Mars Park and Hunters Hill.
Paul trained as an Architect at UNSW & Newcastle University. His practice included drawing and painting. He exhibited work in the 1970s and 1980’s in collective shows and produced illustrations/cartoons for publications. He also produced images and animation for films. Since 1995 he has further developed his painting skills, including undertaking the occasional short course.
Paul’s interests revolve around landscape, broadly defined to include both urban and rural scenes. He looks for ways to represent and compose aspects of the landscape that interest him This becomes a continually challenging task, to devise new ways of perceiving the surroundings.
The media he uses include oil paint, watercolour, gouache, drawing & photography.
The 19 landscape paintings from this exhibition are from locations in the areas surrounding Hunters Hill and Gladesville. These areas include the Field of Mars, Boronia Park bushland and parts of the Lane Cove bushland along the Lane Cove River.
