Explore the history and landscape of the historic Alberton Cemetery. Visit the 1842 grave of the earliest recorded burial and hear how the site is thought to have been used as a burial ground much earlier, when access to the site was via the Albert River.

The walking tour is an opportunity to explore the history of the first and largest cemetery in Gippsland. Walk the full length of the 32 acre cemetery from the entrance to the Old Ground on the banks of the Albert River. Learn of the pioneers of the Port Albert and Alberton district and hear of their achievements and the hardships and tragedies they endured.
